A Sad Week ends in a Positive Way.......

Alex and Yoda at Goldie's grave by the pond. We lost our beloved horse, Blackridge Gold Bar, aka "Goldie" on Wednesday, October 27th.
She was Casey's show horse and the most awsome horse you could have ever owned. Casey showered her with love and spoiled her with angel food cake on her birthdays. Yep cake, Goldie loved it. Goldie was going to be 25 in March. She was a babysitter to all that were around her. She was a magnificent teacher to those she taught to ride and gave 150% all of the time. She taught Boy Scouts about horses, how to ride and many others that wanted to just get near a horse. She even went to Bible School one year! She was a top notch show horse and qualified Casey for the State 4-H Horse Show every year. She continued to do so later in life when Michaela Barber learned to ride on her and Goldie took her to states also. 2009 was her last year there when Michaela showed her in Grooming and Showmanship. She was 24 years old and one of the oldest horses there showing that year. We retired her after that and Taylor continued to keep her exercised until she go sick. She went to heaven to be with her good buddy "Chimey" Kelli's show horse. We have been so blessed to have had these wonderful beauties in our lives.

On the positive end of the week......was the 2010 State 4-H Horse Show in Harrisburg. Tyler took Peanut and received a 2nd place in the 2yr old Palomino Fillies. Second in the state of PA. Wow Tyler, a job well done for sure. You ended your 4-H experience with a bang! Thanks for showing my girl. Your MOMMY loves you!

October 23, 2010 Begins

Casey quietly waiting as her hair was one of the first to get done. Must be the long hair.....

Brooke, working her magic on all of us girls. She worked wonders on us and made us all look so "B" "U" "T" "E" ful. That spells, BEAUTIFUL!
Diva Lauren!

Becky as always does the most amazing hair designs! We all had something special to fit each of us.

At the church chilling out and getting ready

The Bride and Flower Girl waiting for the wedding to begin.
One of my favorite men. Isn't he a cutie!

Brother leading Sister and her crew.
Joel caught the garter and Brooke caught the bouquet. Joel got a little carried away don't you think? But put on a good show. Gotta love that boy!

Liz McAndrew and my Col. Bob's Skipa Peanut, aka Peanut. Liz took Peanut to show at the Quarter Horse Congress and Michaela took Dallas. Both did very well and had new experiences.

New Face

My poor old house is getting a new face. I have always told everyone I was going to log side my home. Not your traditional siding, but one that would look like a 200 year old log home. Chinking in all. Well phase one began the first of October. These are the before, so keep checking back for more.

Casey's Bridal Shower

Casey and Ben's wedding was approaching fast! You all know how that is. Her wedding shower was in September, and she let everyone know it was her day, she was the princess!
Anyone that knows Casey, will know her love of "Cinderella". She has always loved the story.
Originally the shower was to be at the Country Club, in her theme colors........we pulled a switcheroo......it was at the Gold Eagle and had a Cinderella theme.
Her "Throne"

A Casey moment!

Her wash bucket and all of the mice to help her.

Her "Ladies in Waiting" aka Bridesmaids and Flower Girl.

More of the Cook-Off

The boys hard at work!

The girls hard at play!

Sampling the Boild Peanuts!

Smokin Rib Cook-Off

In September Bob and Bobby decided to enter the Smokin Rib Cook-Off. If any of you know Bob very well, he goes all out. He ordered aprons, and 15 pounds of peanuts. I will explain that later.
Barber's Xtreme Graphix fancied up the aprons and sponsored them too.

The cook:" Bobby Fla-vor", the so-called helper:"Col. Bob" and me, the supporter.
We started at 9:00 a.m. and the judging began at 5:00p.m. Had visitors all day. Had a little beer, had a little wine.......

Oh, back to the peanuts......Bob wanted to do something different so the crowd would remember us when it came to the People's Choice of the Day vote. Well they boiled 15 pounds of peanuts and it did remind people who had the best ribs! They won the
People's Choice, but not the rib class.......huh. Story short, the girl that won, cheated! She pulled in, batted her eyes and all three boys took off to help her. Let's see....unload her grill, that didn't have gas.....let her use ours to heat up her ALREADY COOKED ribs.( that were suppose to be cooked on the grounds)....that she used store bought sauce, which she slapped her own label on, and sold as hers........is there something wrong with this picture? I think so.....
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I told the boys never fratranize with the competition and next year, I will have the wooden spoon to inforce the rules...Those boys!

One dozen slabs of ribs, yummy! Oh and the HOME MADE sauce was to die for!

Alex's Triathelon

Yep, that is Casey and Alex after running up the hill on Main St. together, after he road his bicycle from the dam. She met him at the bottom of the hill. They ran together, as they headed to the YMCA.

Running across Main Street to the YMCA, to head to the pool. At this point Casey was pushing Alex as he was saying, "I can't make it Casey".

The last leg of the race was swimming and looks like Alex made it!

A BLUE ribbon for him! Good job

Peek-a-boo, wonder who this is??

2010 Continued-Summer

Summer is a very busy time with the horses, horse shows, fairs, etc. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of some good friends.

This is Cody Steele and Lily. She is his gaming horse.

Michaela and Buttercup had a good year. Michaela has done wonders with this horse and we will be watching them next year.

Emily has had Daz since Easter. Her family had decided to lease her for the 4-H year to see if Emily would want to continue. You tell me......Daz looks fabulous and Emily is happy. What a beautiful picture, oh and they placed in the class!

My wild boys! Yes, this is Tyler on my gaming horse, Chex. They finally clicked during the middle of the summer. Chex gives it all and Tyler sure enjoys him during the summer.
Follow along, as I continue to tell you about my 2010. Early July, Kelli, Alex, Owen, Tyler and I took a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Tyler and I enjoyed it so much the summer before, that we decided to go again. Kelli and the boys thought it would be a good, short vacation. We went to the Aquarium. Spent over half the first day there.

The penquin tank was too funny. Trying to crawl through that tube to get to the center. Then only to stand or squat to see out the top. Owen thought he could get in there with them.

T
The Helecopter ride was the highlight of the trip. Tyler, Alex and I took a 15 minute trip over the whole area. It was the most amazing thing. Tyler was co-pilot, while Alex and I took the back view. Boy what a view!

Where have I been?

Wow is all I can say......where have I been since February 14th, the last post on my blog? Well alot has happened, to say the least. Where do I start.......I will post pictures if I have them to go with the story, otherwise use your imagination.

On Feb. 19th, I headed to State College for a Penn State Horse Judges Clinic. Yep I have become a 4-H, certified Horse Judge and am loving every minute of it. Why I didn't do this a long time ago, I will never know. Anyway, arrived home at 7pm on Sunday with Bob waiting to take off for TEXAS! Yep, my Christmas gift was an entry in a Cowgirl Rodeo, in TX. Had the camper full, 2 horses loaded and away we went. Took 3 days and the sunshine and warmth were worth the trip! Needless to say, we will be going again. Had a blast, my team of 2 Texans and 1 from Colorado, took 3rd all around. Can't wait to see those girls again and do somemore trailriding in the parks of TX.
When spring came, the kids began to fish and as you can see, this is something Casey had never done. She was so proud of herself.
